Description for AFRSTY310: This course undertakes a phenomenological and interpretive analysis of the organization and social structure of modern Caribbean societies. After a brief examination of the colonization and slavery period, it concentrates on the contemporary era with a special focus on key factors that have shaped the cultural parameters and the internal dynamics of the social systems of these Creolophone, Francophone, Anglophone Hispanophone and Dutch-speaking Caribbean societies.
